Indonesia imposes the death penalty for Drug Traffickers.
There has been a lot of world wide controversy recently on the April 29th execution of 8 convicted drug traffickers in Indonesia. Seven were foreigners, one Indonesian. Two others were given temporarily reprieve, one from France on political grounds, the other from the Philippines because of a last minute related drug trafficking investigation in that country. Six drug convicts were also executed in January 2015. There have been allegations that judges involved in some of these cases, offered reduced sentences to some of these individuals, if they were paid bribes. It's unknown whether any bribes were actually paid, but their fate was sealed with a government announcement that the executions would be carried out in 2015.
